The Autism Therapy Group was recently certified as a Great Place to Work™, which nationally recognizes great workplaces.
The Autism Therapy Group (ATG) offers Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to children and teens that have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of children and their families in the most accommodating way possible. ATG could not achieve this goal without the best and most compassionate employees. We take our employee engagement and positive work environment very seriously at ATG. We are always looking for ways to gather feedback on how to support our staff even more.
With that said, participating in the Great Place to Work survey has been one of our top priorities lately. Certified or not, ATG wanted to see how our employees viewed the company as a whole.
The survey was completely anonymous, and it gave us incredibly valuable data. It showed us what our staff thinks our best qualities are, but also what opportunities we have to improve on. Luckily, our employees feel the same way we do! We were officially certified as a Great Place to Work and received tons of positive feedback. For a better understanding of what it means to be a Great Place to Work, we interviewed our Human Resource Coordinator, Jessica Doyle. She took charge of the survey along with our CEO, Mark Jackson.
Can you explain a little about the process of GPTW?
Sure! There are really two parts to the process. The first part is GPTW sent out a confidential Trust Index survey to all of our employees that asked questions about important aspects of our company — things like respect, trust, leadership, and support. The survey also included a spot for comments on what employees thought we did great and where we had opportunities for growth and improvement. During the several weeks our employees were taking the survey, I, along with CEO Mark Jackson, filled out an extensive Culture Brief on our company that asked us to explain in detail our company culture and what we do to go above and beyond for our employees.
How long did the entire process of collecting responses take?
The whole process took about 6 weeks. This includes my calls with GPTW to get us set up, the survey, the culture brief, and reviewing the results. However, we are going to go far beyond that 6 weeks. I am delving into the results to find out what our employees truly think makes us a great place to work and what more we can do for them. This was more than just a process to us– it is a chance for us to gain invaluable feedback and improve for our employees!
How many people responded out of how many employees?
Out of the 114 people the survey was sent to, we received 83 responses.
Can you tell me a little bit about the responses? What are ATG’s strongest company qualities?
Absolutely. The responses were extremely helpful. Our greatest strengths were revealed to be justice, support, collaboration, equality/fairness, and respect.
What was most exciting or surprising to you about the results?
I think the most surprising and exciting thing to me was how many people responded and took the time to write thoughtful feedback for us. I love that our employees put their heart into every area of ATG, including thinking about what we can do better and more for our employees and families.
Why do you think ATG is a great place to work?
To me, ATG is a great place to work because of all the support, encouragement, and heart that everyone shows at work. I can honestly say I work with amazing people who do everything they can to make a difference in the lives of everyone that is a part of ATG. I love it here!
What do you think ATG can expect in the future as a company?
Great question. I think ATG can expect to see a lot more engagement with staff and families to continue to improve on making this the best place to work. I think with that will come both personal and professional growth for our employees, families, and company as a whole!

We asked some of our employees how they feel about The Autism Therapy Group being a Great Place to Work™.
What does ATG being considered a Great Place to Work mean to you?
ATG becoming a great place to work means that I now have confirmation that I’m exactly where I want to be in my professional life. Spending each day with a group of employees that I can trust has given me the opportunities to enjoy growing my knowledge in this field. I have pride in what we accomplish as a team and I’m proud to say that ATG continues to give me this opportunity everyday!
Lisa Guerrero, Texas Regional Director, BCBA
What ATG becoming a Great Place to Work means to me is ATG will have more opportunities as a company. Being recognized as a Great Place to Work will allow ATG to appeal to more great potential candidates and families who are interested in working with us. As a Great Place to Work, ATG will have more opportunities than before to grow.
Christine Koessl, Wisconsin Regional Director, BCBA
ATG becoming a Great Place to Work shows how ATG’s goal is to help you succeed. As a BCBA, one of my main goals is to work with the RBTs and help them be the best RBT they can be for their client[s]. However, as a BCBA I am also provided with frequent support. And support does not just mean in clinical areas- it includes professional development and growth in your personal areas of interest in the field, even if they do not directly relate to your current client[s].
In my opinion, the key to ATG being a Great Place to Work is the recognition of needing to balance that growth and support with a healthy work/life balance. There is an understanding at ATG that in order to be a great clinician and support others, you need to have the means to take care of yourself first.
Olivia Smith, Wisconsin BCBA
ATG’s supervisory and leadership team members are always willing to go above and beyond to support our staff, regardless of all their client responsibilities and hectic schedules, to have formal recognition becoming a Great Place to Work is truly amazing and so very appreciated.
Brooke Belling, Clinical Director, BCBA
